The fashion house "Chic and Charm" is on the brink of bankruptcy. In his desperation, the owner Ludwig Kasbrunner turns to the not-so-reputable marriage broker of the marriage institute "Every Little Cup Finds Its Lid." He takes 3000 euros from him and introduces him to the supposedly wealthy son of a Spanish consul, along with a wealthy aunt for his daughter. In reality, the son is a good-for-nothing freeloader, the consul is a janitor with a shady past, and the aunt is a former con artist and thief. This trio of crooks squeezes the last of the money from the fashion house owner. They exploit his family, relatives, friends, and customers like a Christmas goose, until the rest of their money is gone as well. Ultimately, there is a happy ending: the greedy swindlers are arrested in Spain with the remnants of the money and a jewelry box full of "buttons." The male crooks are sentenced to several years in a Spanish prison, and the false Donna Klara spends the rest of her days in the closed institution of a nursing home in Mallorca. Olé.
