Traveling Troubadours: From Naples to Distant Lands
Experiencing spring in Naples is something special – but sitting in the wonderful garden of Noah's Ark during spring is equally delightful. American baritone and guitarist Bryan Benner (The Erlkings) and Czech guitar virtuoso Václav Fuksa form a duo that has dedicated itself for years to the Neapolitan song tradition with great passion.
In the first part of the program, the two take the audience on a musical vacation to Naples, impressing with songs from five centuries – from the Renaissance to the Canzoni of the 1950s.
In the second part of the concert evening, Benner and Fuksa focus on their new project "Songs of Travel," featuring selected songs by Vaughan Williams, Schubert songs in their own reinterpretation, forgotten Moravian folk songs, and songs by John Dowland – some sung in two parts.
