Joseph Haydn: Symphony No. 88 in G major Hob I:88
Joseph Haydn: Cello Concerto in C major
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Symphony No. 41 in C major KV 551 "Jupiter"

"I was isolated from the world; no one nearby could confuse and torment me, and so I had to become original," Joseph Haydn once wrote about his workplace. Yet it was precisely Haydn's originality that would make him the most famous composer of his time. The humorous Symphony Hob. I:88, for instance, was composed for Paris but also made its way to Vienna and London without Haydn benefiting from it. His Cello Concerto in C major, likely composed for Franz Joseph Weigl, the solo cellist of the Esterházy court orchestra, was rediscovered only in the 1960s in Prague. The brilliant "Jupiter Symphony" by Haydn's friend Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, his last work in this genre and composed around the same time as Haydn's Symphony No. 88, may have been performed during Mozart's lifetime in Dresden, Frankfurt, or Vienna. What is certain is that it has become an epitome of classical music worldwide. It is also certain that cellist Pablo Ferrández, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, and Riccardo Minasi are knowledgeable interpreters who vividly convey the brilliance and grandeur of Haydn's and Mozart's works.
