Who was Friedrich Hölderlin? Lauffen has a rich history, and with the Hölderlin House and the extraordinary roundabout created by the artist Peter Lenk, the connection to the famous poet Friedrich Hölderlin is kept alive. But...! Who was this man, born in 1770 in Lauffen am Neckar, with his significant influence on German literature? What was important to him? What makes Hölderlin so special? Many highs and lows marked his life, set against the vibrant backdrop of the time surrounding the French Revolution and the hope for change in Württemberg.
