In the new interactive exhibition, there is a lot to discover about the river tern, which is listed as a threatened species on the Red List of endangered birds! Photos and videos provide insights into the lives of these small birds, which have had a breeding colony here – right in the middle of the city – for years. The exhibition vividly presents the work of the scientists from the Institute for Bird Research and the long-term studies conducted in the colony on the behavior of these small migratory birds. Researchers from all over the world now come to Banter Lake to observe and study the river terns. In the exhibition, visitors can enter a replica of the breeding island and then observe the lively activity in the bird colony through a large window overlooking Banter Lake.
