Tour of the special exhibition "The Answer"

In winter, the special exhibition space of the Robert Sterl House is always dedicated to young contemporary art. Since the 1990s, this space has been awarded annually by the collection foundations of the Dresden district, the sponsor of the Robert Sterl House, in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts (HfBK) Dresden to a master student of the HfBK. The Robert Sterl Prize commemorates the cultural and social engagement of the artist Robert Sterl (1867–1932) and aims to promote young artists from the art academy (now: Academy of Fine Arts) Dresden, where Sterl was a professor for over 25 years. The award includes a cash prize and an exhibition at the Robert Sterl House, the former residence and studio of the artist of the same name. The current special exhibition "The Answer" showcases works by the 2025 Robert Sterl Prize winner. Luca Pataki has wrapped the entire exhibition space and all objects in paper for her presentation, creating a hybrid of archive and "landscape" that is defined less by being than by becoming. Through this, Pataki artistically addresses the instability of our perception and the fragility of the systems we create to maintain it in a creative, intelligent, and sometimes humorous manner. On Saturday, February 7, 2026, there will be a joint tour with Luca Pataki through the special exhibition. This will be an opportunity to discover and reflect on the exhibition together in conversation with the artist and the director of the Robert Sterl House. The award winner will also present a publication created specifically for the exhibition.
