Vernissage of the exhibitions by Dag and Axel Heller In the presence of Dag and Axel Heller Live music: Bernhard Meyer (electric bass) Axel Heller, born in 1962, has been working as a freelance photographer since 1990 and lives in Zippelow near Neustrelitz. He has undertaken numerous travels around the world to capture traditional ways of life threatened by modernity with his camera. The Maramures region in northern Romania is one of the most remote areas in Europe. Here, time seems to have stood still – the people in the lonely mountains and valleys live and work as they did centuries ago. Axel Heller traveled to Maramures repeatedly from 2005 to 2014, getting closer to the people there with his camera than anyone before him. DAG was born in 1964 in Eberswalde, but has lived and worked in Berlin since the mid-1980s. In his new series of drawings, two souls are reflected – his life in the big city and the memory of the landscape around Eberswalde. With pencil and stencil, he blends these influences to create fantasy maps. A wall drawing will accompany a selection of these works, created in the gallery's cabinet.
