A little anecdote on the side: François Couperin is one of the favorite composers of our artistic director Gottfried Holzer-Graf. Accordingly, there was great joy when it became clear during a late-night research session for the program planning that Couperin would be celebrating his 400th birthday in 2026. It was only a bit later that it became clear: The round birthday being celebrated is actually that of his uncle, Louis Couperin.
The result of this charming "reading error": This year, you will enjoy a bit more François Couperin – which we do not regret at all.
