"Welcome to the new reality!"

Josef can't believe his eyes: there is a complete stranger in his kitchen, calmly preparing breakfast. But that's not all: Jan, his eloquent and well-dressed counterpart, insists firmly that this is his own apartment. After all attempts to prove the opposite fail miserably, Josef is left with the desperate hope that his wife Margit will shed some light on the situation. However, she is completely on Jan's side, and slowly it dawns on Josef that he is suddenly falling out of the reality he has known and may even be replaced by a doppelgänger…

The text by Tyrolean author and theater creator Manfred Schild, awarded the Austrian Comedy Prize Porcia 2025, takes aim at the self-optimization craze of our modern society by sharply reversing, distorting, and questioning our familiar reality.

After the Comedy Games 2026, the award-winning production will also be presented in this staging at our cooperation partner Schauspielhaus Salzburg in the autumn.
