Vatelin: If there is any proof of the infidelity of their fickle husbands, then female revenge will follow immediately. Beneficiary Redillon is already looking forward to being the laughing third... Georges Feydeau's brilliant comedy shows what happens when infidelity, adultery, and unbridled passion collide with the deceitful etiquette of Parisian salons – and then everyone loses their nerve at the same time. With a lot of linguistic wit, absurd situational comedy, and a dizzying pace, Feydeau leads his characters through a chaos of lies, passions, and the search for the reality of love. The translation and adaptation of the French classic performed in our anniversary season this year comes from H.C. Artmann and the founder of the Porcia Comedy Festival, Herbert Wochinz, who put this play on the program during the very first Comedy Summer in 1961.
