Truck Theater: Free of Charge

The Lastkrafttheater brings laughter to the communities of Austria with its unique stage: The magic of comedy takes place right at your doorstep, allowing the audience to escape from everyday life and experience folk theater in the best sense in their hometown. This year, the truck driven by carrier Karl Gruber will once again be skillfully maneuvered as it travels through the land with the Nestroy classic "FOR FREE!" on its mobile stage.

Arthur and Pitzl, two provincial actors from a small town theater, are feeling down because "when there is high pressure, there is low pressure at the box office." Arthur is in love with Emma, who is being raised under the guardianship of the stern Finster. However, there are problems: Arthur lacks wealth and reputation, and Finster is against this union, which is why Arthur wants to elope with his beloved. Finster has since taken his ward Emma to another city, to the inn of the host Sauerfass, and Arthur and Pitzl follow them. There, the innkeeper's daughter is in love with the waiter Georg, but her father has other marriage plans for her and wants to marry her off to Ignaz, the son of a wealthy capitalist. Thus, our two stage heroes plunge headlong into absurd, turbulent adventures that demand the highest acting skills and brilliant improvisation from them...
