Hike and herb bouquet making on Assumption Day

# Guided Tour by Torsten Englert The Feast of the Assumption of Mary, or, as it is commonly known, the Assumption of Mary, is still celebrated on August 15 in many Catholic parishes here in the “Madonnenländle” and was a particularly important holiday in the Eastern Church. The large number of Marian feasts is an expression of the Church’s deep gratitude and reverence for Mary. The Cistercian Order was active in Bronnbach for over 650 years and had a special relationship with the Mother of God, which is why the monastery church in Bronnbach is dedicated to Mary. The themed tour/herb walk—weather permitting—sets out to trace the evidence of deep Marian devotion and explains the significance and origins of the Feast of the Assumption. In addition, during a short hike, various medicinal herbs are collected for a “Würzbüschel” (herb bundle), and information is provided on the use and significance of the medicinal herbs. At the end, the collected herbs are tied into a so-called herb bundle. **Please bring:** twine and, if available, pruning shears, as well as plants from your local area (such as mullein, sheep’s sorrel, wormwood, mint, sage, arnica, chamomile, basil, ribwort plantain, but also roses, lilies, and various grains). You can also tie in other herbs whose beneficial properties you have discovered for yourself.
