Founded in 2022 by students of the Vienna University of Music, the Motus Quartet has quickly made a name for itself through various awards and accolades, as well as acclaimed performances both at home and abroad. In the Empire Hall of Schloss Esterházy, the four young musicians will present a magnificent program consisting of three milestones of the genre. With the half dozen of his Opus 20, Joseph Haydn elevated the string quartet to a new level of musical art. A half-century later, Ludwig van Beethoven opened the gates to modernity with his late string quartets—gates that for a long time, few dared to cross. It was Béla Bartók who took the plunge. A matinee entirely dedicated to breathtaking innovations.
