On June 9, 1933, an incident occurs during the boxing match for the German championship title in the light heavyweight category. Rukeli, who comes from a Sinti family, scores points with his fast and, for that time, unusual boxing style in every round. However, the jury considers the fighters' performances to be insufficient and refuses to score the match: The boxing style of the "Gypsy" does not conform to German boxing. Only due to massive protests from the audience is Rukeli Trollmann eventually declared the German champion, but shortly thereafter, he is stripped of the title "for poor boxing." Rukeli's promising boxing career comes to an abrupt end under the Nazi regime. In the concentration camp, Rukeli is forced to box for the SS against other inmates. Those who lose die.
