Tour of the Documentation and Learning Site Bückeberg

On the Bückeberg near Hameln, the Reich Harvest Thanksgiving Festivals took place from 1933 to 1937, one of the largest mass events of National Socialism. Up to 1 million people cheered for Adolf Hitler here and were meant to feel like part of the "people's community." The tour through the permanent exhibition provides information about the course of the Reich Harvest Thanksgiving Festivals, the extensive accompanying construction measures, and the underlying propaganda mechanisms. The focus is on the question of how the National Socialists were able to co-opt the people, as the Bückeberg is not about victims or perpetrators, but about the majority society that either "went along" or "looked away."
