The ground shakes when the steam engines come to life in the permanent exhibition of the MIK. A technology that continues to fascinate to this day. The guided tour illustrates the path to the steam engine and thus to industrialization, starting from mining, where steam engines were used for water management underground. With the technical innovations of the 17th and 18th centuries, the living and working conditions of people changed significantly: workers' quarters emerged, the workplace became centralized, and time was recorded by punch clocks. However, dangers such as bursting boilers and imploding flame tubes presented new challenges for the workers. An event at Piesberg, suitable for ages 14 and up.
