From Fire Mountain to Desert Sand Dune – A Journey Through 300 Million Years of Ottenhöfen

What do massive volcanoes, a prehistoric desert, and a vanished mountain range have in common? – Ottenhöfen in the Black Forest! On this geological family tour, we will embark on an exciting journey through 300 million years of Earth’s history. Playfully, vividly, and with many "aha" moments, families with children will discover how our landscape has continually transformed: from a mountain range over 5,000 meters high, through glowing lava fields and towering sand dunes, to the cultural landscape shaped by humans later on. As a Black Forest guide, climate ambassador, and moor guide, Nicolai Stotz will take you to places where history is embedded in the rocks – often hidden, but visible everywhere if you know what to look for. An exploration tour for curious minds, little researchers, and great admirers. A tour that shows: Our homeland has been everything – a high mountain range, a land of fire, and a desert.
