The Agricultural Technology Museum Braunschweig

The chairman of the Förderkreis Gut Steinhof e.V., Hans-Heinrich Tomforde, guides visitors through the Agricultural Technology Museum Gut Steinhof and provides interesting insights into the working methods of past centuries. The Agricultural Technology Museum Gut Steinhof is a purely volunteer-run museum that focuses on the "development of agricultural technology in the twentieth century." This period represents the transition from centuries-old working methods using draft animals and hand tools to steam engines, combustion engines, and large machinery. The preservation of the old estate, from which the Förderkreis has leased several buildings from the city of Braunschweig for over 40 years, is another focal point. On approximately 1,400 square meters, machines and workflows from various epochs are displayed, with the exhibits presented in a way that they are as operational as possible and show signs of their working life. In addition to the equipment, the handling of these tools must also be preserved; therefore, machines and devices are demonstrated in practical use during events to convey traditional working methods. Please note that the museum is not barrier-free; part of the exhibition is only accessible via a steep staircase. The fee for the guided tour is five euros and is to be paid on-site. Guide: Hans-Heinrich Tomforde.
