BACH'S JOHANNES PASSION: the opening concert of the 16th Aequinox Music Days 2026 - a celebration of voices! With an impressive collaborative production, the 16th Aequinox Music Days will celebrate their opening at the KulturKirche Neuruppin. Bach's Johannes Passion, one of the most significant works of Baroque Passion music, will be performed. Since its premiere in 1724, it has fascinated audiences with its clear dramatic structure, intense choral scenes and arias, as well as the immediate expression of its musical language. The sharply drawn contrasts between chorales, narrative recitatives, and emotional solo moments bring the Passion story to life with great intimacy and tension. Local and professional ensembles will come together in large numbers for this evening: The vocal quintet amarcord, the lautten compagney BERLIN as the ensemble in residence, and a large choral collective from the Neuruppin A-CAPELLA-CHOR, the Märkischer Jugendchor, and the chamber choir of the Sing-Akademie zu Berlin will jointly create the opening concert. Conducting will be Wolfgang Katschner, the artistic director of the music days.
