Subject excursion "Nature Experience Fluorescence"

Observing a butterfly is often a brief, fleeting pleasure. The well-camouflaged caterpillars are even harder to spot. However, on this approximately 3-km-long expert excursion, participants can discover butterfly caterpillars with a bit of luck and the help of UV lamps. Under UV light, many insects and plants reveal colors that remain hidden from the human eye. This fascinating natural phenomenon is called fluorescence. The trained staff of the Heinz Sielmann Foundation will explain a wealth of information about this phenomenon during their nocturnal trek through the Döberitzer Heide. This expert excursion is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and older. Please remember to wear sturdy footwear and bring a flashlight. We also recommend bringing a drink.
