Special exhibition at the city museum: let's walk drushba

Cultural project along the oil pipeline. Exhibition by Gabriyel Dari. Every resident of Schwedt knows the "Friendship Oil Pipeline." It was put into operation in 1963 after five years of construction and serves as the artery from Central Russia to PCK. Until January 1, 2023, it transported oil over 8000 km in 21 days from Kuibyshev to the storage tanks in Schwedt. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the oil boycott, everything has changed. For this reason, Gabriyel Dari has engaged with the impacts of the oil industry on the landscape and the oil pipeline arriving in Schwedt. Dari traveled along the pipeline to eastern Poland, searching for traces in the landscape, documenting them, and developing an extensive cultural project. The resulting project aims to transform the pipeline from a conventional energy infrastructure component into a monument of modern society.
