FILM + CAKE + COFFEE (or tea) ONLY €9.40 It’s actually just a formality: Heribert (Hape Kerkeling), long-time chairman of the Lengenheide Tennis Club, and his ambitious deputy Matthias (Friedrich Mücke) are putting the purchase of a grill for the next club party to a vote. The trendy copywriter Torsten (Christoph Maria Herbst), who has moved from Berlin to the provinces, throws out a witty remark to bring the dull meeting to a quick end. Then his wife Melanie (Anja Knauer) suggests buying a second grill for her doubles partner Erol (Fahri Yardim), the only Muslim member of the club. After all, devout Muslims are known not to place their sausages on a grill that has been used for pork. This well-meaning idea leads to a turbulent exchange, with atheists and believers, Germans and Turks, do-gooders and hardliners clashing head-on. It quickly becomes clear to everyone: This is about much more than just a grill... One of the funniest and most successful plays of recent years is coming to the big screen: Director Marcus H. Rosenmüller ("Pumuckl and the Great Misunderstanding," "Trautmann") has staged the stage hit by comedy writers Dietmar Jacobs ("Stromberg," "Pastewka") and Moritz Netenjakob ("Stromberg," "Ladykracher") with a brilliant ensemble.
