WALA Quartet – "Voyage en Conte de Fées" The WALA Quartet invites you on a musical journey between fantasy and reality. Under the title "Voyage en Conte de Fées," four masters of Romanticism and the early 20th century come together: Franz Schubert, Antonín Dvořák, Igor Stravinsky, and Alexander Zemlinsky. While Igor Stravinsky impresses with rhythmic diversity and strong expressive power in his "Histoire du soldat" for clarinet, violin, and piano, Alexander Zemlinsky transports listeners into a mysterious, fairy-tale sound world in his "Six Songs" for contralto and string quartet. The romantic depth of Schubert and Dvořák resonates in "Der Zwerg" and the famous "Lied an den Mond" – two works that are equally driven by emotion and fantasy. The warm timbre of contralto Kerstin Auerbach blends with the finely tuned chamber ensemble of violin, cello, clarinet, and piano under the direction of concert pianist Natalie Miller.
