75 years ago, Erna and Kurt Kretschmann from Bad Freienwalde invented a symbol that everyone knows today: a black owl on a yellow background. As an official sign, it guides us into protected nature. The special exhibition looks at the eventful life of the inventors, who were closely connected to nature conservation in the GDR (German Democratic Republic). It tells the story of the idea behind the owl, its design and dissemination – and its surprisingly vibrant history up to the present day.
