Alb Guide Tour: Maria Zell

Guided hike with Marcus Lanz. From the Zeller Horn down to the beautiful Maria Zell Chapel. From the Zeller Horn down to the beautiful Maria Zell Chapel Starting on the Alb plateau, we soon find ourselves facing Hohenzollern Castle, the ancestral seat of the Prussian dynasty. From here, the trail descends steeply along a narrow path, past the former ski lodge, to the Mariazell Chapel. During the summer season, the chapel is open to visitors on Sundays and holidays; it is maintained by the Förderverein Maria Zell e.V. and is well worth a visit. Good physical condition is required for the steep, seemingly endless ascent that follows until the cliff line is reached again. Along this line, the now less demanding return route to the starting point begins. Challenging tour requiring sure-footedness. 280 m of descent and ascent. Duration: approx. 4 hours
