ANIADA A NOAR
For over 40 years, ANIADA A NOAR has influenced and enriched the broad field of "New Folk Music" in Austria and beyond. Rooted in their homeland yet always looking beyond the horizon. Few have translated the credo of Styria – the airier Hanns Koren – musically better: "Home is depth, not narrowness" (Michael Tschida, Kleine Zeitung).
To date, they have released 22 recordings and have been honored with multiple nominations for the German Record Critics' Award.
LOTHAR LÄSSER:
Lothar Lässer was a member of the nearly folk band "deishovida," the "Sandy Lopicic Orkestar," and the Klezmer band "Budowitz." He loves the quirky and spontaneous in music, as well as dance music. He plays a self-constructed accordion based on the Viennese Schrammel harmonica. As a passionate singer, he has the honorable task of refining the Noarn's two-part harmony with high and low tones.
CD REVIEW ANIADA A NOAR "Beyond the Ganges"
MICA AUSTRIA
After the loss of their long-time friend and music colleague Bertl Pfundner, the two remaining members of Aniada A Noar, Andreas Safer and Wolfgang Moitz, had to pause to gather new strength. Together with Lothar Lässer, they are now opening a fresh chapter with their new album "Beyond the Ganges." Their music remains a journey full of curiosity and openness, but this time it leads into unknown sound realms. "Beyond the Ganges" symbolizes the courage to leave behind the security of tradition and embrace the freedom of the new.
WITH OPENNESS INTO NEW SOUND WORLDS
Andreas Safer (Vocals, Violin, Mandolin, Singing Saw) and Wolfgang Moitz (Vocals, Bagpipes, Flutes) have always been artists who push boundaries. Their music is characterized by tireless experimentation and a respect for the past, without being constrained by it. Together with the fabulous accordionist Lothar Lässer, they now dare a musical departure that allows the old to shine in a new light.
Lothar Lässer, an experienced musician with projects like "deishovida" and the "Sandy Lopicic Orkestar," brings a bolder, unpredictable dimension to the trio. His self-designed accordion, inspired by the Viennese Schrammel harmonica, is more than an instrument – it is a medium for spontaneous ideas and musical visions. With his multifaceted voice, he expands the sonic depth of the Noarn and creates a fascinating dialogue between tradition and modernity.
MUSIC BETWEEN THE FAMILIAR AND THE UNKNOWN
For more than four decades, Aniada a Noar has been a driving force in "New Folk Music." Their approach is characterized by elegance, playfulness, and a courage for diversity. The combination of homeland sounds and world music influences creates an auditory experience that feels both familiar and exciting. Their melodies touch, their rhythms invigorate, and in every note, a hint of melancholy resonates.
The album "Beyond the Ganges" offers more than just music – it is an invitation to expand one's horizons. It is about leaving the comfort zone and embracing the new with open arms. This brave step into the unknown leads to a sound that is as versatile as it is profound.
With Lässer by their side, Aniada a Noar succeeds in telling musical stories that reach not only ears but also hearts. "Beyond the Ganges" is a program that excites and inspires – a sound adventure that invites the listener to become part of this journey.
