TOURDATA

Schlatt 4, 4714 Meggenhofen

Herta was almost in the big wide world when she had to return to take over the family farm. And Hans thus did not become an actor after all, but a farmer – out of love for his wife. The two find contentment with their children at the Kircheckerhof – a 450-year-old four-sided farm in the midst of Upper Austria – alongside agriculture, by renting rooms for vacations on the farm.

Herbert is less successful and heavily in debt. He has never found a wife and has lived alone at the neighboring farm since his mother's death.

Karl is doing better; the transition to organic farming has proven successful. If only Erika – the waitress at the village inn, which is on the verge of closing – would notice him, his happiness would be complete.

The three very different farmers and friends are connected by their involvement in the so-called "Frankenburger Dice Game." This amateur theater troupe is about to premiere a historical and terrible event from the Peasants' War that occurred 400 years ago. (Back then, two rebels had to roll dice against each other; one was hanged on the spot, while the "winner" was allowed to return to his farm. The parallel to the present: even today, perhaps only one of two farms will survive...)

Meanwhile, Renate and Heike have also arrived at the Kircheckerhof to spend their vacation here. The couple from southern Germany, near Regensburg, somewhat disrupts the farming world. However, a happy ending is not out of the question, echoing the great German poet Erich Fried: "Whoever wants the world to remain as it is, does not want it to remain!"

And one thing we can guarantee: despite some touching scenes, humor in "Spaltboden" will certainly not be lacking!
