"Shiver and quiver, little tree, silver and gold throw down over me," Cinderella pleads. But no shimmering gown descends for the ball. Can she venture into the refined circles of high culture wearing her Adidas two-piece? She, of all people — without wealth, connections or a prestigious degree? How do we even define high culture—and why do some people feel alienated from it? Is so-called social mobility possible in our society, and what happens to those who arrive newly and—regardless of what they bring—are relegated to the status of "other”?

After their production UGLINESS, director Saliha Shagasi, together with her team and an ensemble of community actors, explores what class change means today. In this production, we use both German and English.
