The Leineweber Market, Bielefeld's most traditional city festival, transforms the city center into a vibrant open-air stage every year at the end of May. At several locations, including the Old Market and Jahnplatz, artists present a diverse program of street theater, cabaret, folklore, jazz, and rock. Renowned acts such as the Berlin folk band Mighty Oaks and singer Leony have thrilled audiences in the past. The festival is complemented by a fairground with rides like bumper cars and music express, as well as numerous stalls offering handicrafts, fashion, and culinary specialties. A highlight is the Sunday shopping event, which rounds off the festival. The Leineweber Market is an integral part of the regional culture and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
