Part 1 – Fishing Blues by Taj Mahal - Traditional Fingerpicking The focus is on the great blues picker Taj Mahal with a song by Henry Thomas: "Fishing Blues." Step by step, Biber works with the participants on this piece. Special attention is given to the "Dropped-D tuning," whose hypnotic bass and bright treble strings create a wonderful sound. Legends like Neil Young and Stephen Stills regularly use this tuning in their songs. Part 2 – Percussive Blues Guitar – A Special Technique The second block is dedicated to a topic that is particularly close to Biber Herrmann's heart: instead of imitating role models, the focus is on developing one's own playing style and incorporating percussive elements, for example. With effective techniques, Biber demonstrates how the interplay of bass, accompaniment, and percussive accents enhances the groove, resulting in an energetic sound. This approach is new for many fingerpickers but opens up a world of expressive possibilities. The instructor: "Biber Herrmann is one of the most authentic and important folk-blues artists in our country and beyond. And believe me, I know what I'm talking about." (Fritz Rau, legendary concert promoter for the Rolling Stones, Clapton, etc.) Biber Herrmann is a prominent figure in the European scene. With a love for tradition, he connects the legacy of the old blues masters with his own style and contemporary expression. Those who experience him live can feel his deep connection to the music – and it is this passion that he brings to his workshops.
