Talk show with Hermann Hesse

A staged dialogue featuring original quotes from Hermann Hesse as responses Hermann Hesse is a guest on a talk show. The host asks him questions that preoccupy us today: How do I want to live? Who do I want to be? etc. The poet responds with original quotes from his works, revealing his philosophical side. In this staged dialogue, Hesse is brought to life. Live jazz accompanies the talk show. The play’s author and the actor portraying Hermann Hesse is the Munich-based philosopher **Dr. Andreas Belwe**. In addition to his academic teaching, he has made it his goal to bring philosophy and literature to the public in an entertaining way. Since 2024, Belwe has also been active with the International Hermann Hesse Society. In 2022, his students designed various objects inspired by Hesse’s theme of obstinacy. In 2024, other students created a card game based on *Steppenwolf*, and for 2027, additional students are planning a special exhibition on the theme “The Attitude Toward Life in Hesse’s Work” to coincide with the reopening of the Hesse Museum in Calw. **Hannah Zitzmann**, a trained opera singer, is co-author of the Hesse talk show and serves as its host. Since 2013, she has been writing and performing talk shows with historical intellectual giants alongside Andreas Belwe. In 2024, their joint book *Talk with Kafka* was published by Königshausen & Neumann. In the spring of 2027, the conversation with Hermann Hesse will be published in an expanded form by Suhrkamp.
