The sea eagle, with a wingspan of nearly 2.5 meters and its strong, yellow beak, is one of the most powerful and magnificent birds of prey found in our region. In 2024, it returned to the national park and successfully bred.
Due to the fluctuating operation of the Vranov power plant, the Thaya River does not freeze over even in the depths of winter. Here, the sea eagle finds ample fishing grounds for foraging and hunts waterfowl.
Under the guidance of national park ranger Robert Müllner, we will observe the sea eagle and other predators, as well as wintering waterbirds, and learn a lot of interesting information about their biology and behavior.
Meeting point: National Park House
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Cost: Adults € 17
Equipment: Binoculars or spotting scopes. On request, limited rental binoculars from Swarovski Optik are available.
