For 15 years, photographer Christoph Huber has spent his summers as a shepherd at the Königreichalm on the Dachstein plateau. This environment, the region surrounding the Dachstein, inspired him to create a touching and beautifully illustrated audio play. In the piece "GESTERN HOTS GRENGT," Christoph Huber processes original hut journal entries from the alpine pasture into a narrative about change and permanence, about deeply human feelings and experiences, about life and death on the alpine pasture in light of an impending global climate crisis.
The music of the illustrated audio play by Klaus Meissnitzer and Toni Burger makes the barren karst landscape of the Dachstein plateau impressively tangible and merges with texts, voices, and images into a moving journey through the history of an alpine pasture.

"GESTERN HOTS GRENGT" was awarded the Folk Culture Prize of the State of Styria in 2025.
