Great wilderness in the smallest national park

Our traditional Austrian-Czech hike takes us to the quiet zone in the western part of the national park. Passing by the Frainer Lusthaus, a relic of a historic landscape garden, we hike through a wild forest landscape where steep rocks dramatically rise into the sky, rewarding us with breathtaking views of the winding course of the Thaya River.

The two national park employees, Julian Haider from Austria and Petr Lazárek from the Czech Republic, provide exciting insights into the natural beauty of this unique area. They talk about the "rewilding" of the national park, how nature is continually reclaiming its space here, and report on cross-border projects that strengthen the protection of this valuable ecosystem.
