Anniversary Herb Festival

Every year on the Feast of the Assumption, the Thayatal National Park transforms into a fragrant paradise of herbs, flowers, and nature experiences: this year, the traditional Herb Festival invites both large and small visitors to discover the fascinating world of local plant culture for the 20th time. Building on the most popular program highlights from the past 20 years, the festival offers a colorful mix of knowledge sharing, crafts, nature enjoyment, and interactive stations.

During the traditional festival mass with herb priest Benedikt, the herb bouquets will be blessed, followed by a special farewell celebration: our "herb witch" Helga Donnerbauer, who founded this festival and has dedicated herself to it for 20 years, will distribute her homemade herb bouquets one last time and share some of her most beautiful herb stories.

In the festival area, guests can look forward to a lively herb market featuring local producers: from handmade salves and tinctures to dried tea blends, spices, and natural cosmetics, there is something for everyone. There will also be plenty of food and drink: local businesses will treat visitors to herb dishes, game specialties, fresh lemonades, and sweet floral creations.
