Black stork at dawn

Early in the morning, when the first rays of sunshine awaken life along the river, a magical atmosphere prevails at the Thaya. Many animals such as beavers, black storks, and otters are active at this time and can be observed with a bit of luck while foraging or during their migrations.

We start our tour with National Park Ranger Gerhard Gutkas at the new observation tower and hike steeply down the Granitzsteig to the banks of the Thaya. There, we follow the river, enjoy the morning ambiance, and may encounter one or two shy residents of the national park.

Equipment: Binoculars or spotting scopes. On request, rental binoculars from Swarovski Optik are available in limited numbers.
