It is endangered, lives a reclusive and hidden life, and few people catch a glimpse of it. But it is there and leaves clear traces! Join our national park rangers on the trail of the wildcat and immerse yourself in the nocturnal forest filled with unknown sounds, in a world of shadow play created by the moon and dark tree shapes.
During our wildcat night hikes, you will learn what the ideal habitat for the wildcat looks like, which locations the shy forest cat prefers, and how it catches its main prey, the mice. You will also get to know our research methods using lure sticks, camera traps, and collar transmitters, which are used to study the secret life of the wildcat. The tour concludes with a night feeding of our two zoo wildcats, Frieda and Carlo!
