Winter hike to the "Umlaufblick"

After the holidays, many of us feel a hunger for movement. Whether there is snow or not, a hike through the Thayatal is a refreshing experience!

Winter has a special charm in the Thayatal. The cold has transformed the valley landscape, nature is in energy-saving mode, and only a few visitors are out and about. Nevertheless, you can find traces of animals and plants that withstand the cold. National Park ranger Margit Müllner reports on otters and beavers and shows the tracks and other signs of these fascinating creatures.

At the beginning, we enjoy an impressive view from the new lookout point into the valley, as the lack of leaves makes the winding valley landscape particularly visible. After that, we head down to the Thaya and back to Merkersdorf via the Umlaufberg.
