The Carli Quartet has made a name for itself through its interpretation of South American tango in the format of a string quartet. In this new project, the focus extends both stylistically and geographically beyond the borders of Argentina, incorporating music from other Latin American countries into the program. Lively, vibrant rhythms and unique melodic lines reveal the South American origins, yet each of the neighboring Latin American countries has its own distinct language. A bridge to Europe is built with compositions inspired by South American music from Werner Thomas-Mifune and Osnabrück's Peter Witte. The Carli (String) Quartet consists of four international musicians from Argentina, Ukraine/Portugal, and Germany: Gerardo Miranda & Danylo Gertsev, violin; Marie Harders-Sauer, viola; Stefan Mertin, cello. All musicians have been trained at various music colleges across Europe and are involved in different ensembles. Their current base is Osnabrück, where they have come together as a quartet through their passion for tango.
