Two Saxophones

In a rare duo performance with Sandra Rijavec (saxophone) and Nepomuk Golding (accordion), the two musicians present selected pieces from different eras of music history. In the Saxaccordia duo, the saxophone and accordion come together in a captivating and exciting way, resulting in a rich variety of sounds. Based in Cologne, the omnipresent attributes of the city—tradition and cosmopolitanism—are reflected in the program: works by old masters from times when neither instrument existed are performed in a completely new sound. These are contrasted with works that have been influenced by other corners of the world. Strange and yet familiar. The result is a colorful and varied program that aims to convey the character of the young duo's hometown through music. Saxophonist Sandra Rijavec and accordionist Nepomuk Golding met while studying at the HfMT Cologne. Both are prize winners of national and international competitions. In addition to their chamber music activities, both are also active as soloists at home and abroad and have already been guests of renowned orchestras, including the Northwest German Philharmonic, the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, and the Stuttgart Philharmonic. Both are also enthusiastic about new music and have worked intensively with composers, including David Holleber and Guilermo Lagos Ciudades, whose works they have premiered.
