Auf der Schmelz, Verlängerte Guntherstraße, 1150 Wien
The good old German hits in the unmistakable interpretation by JOHANN K. and MONTI BETON: a musical MUST-see event. The constant demand for this successful program by Monti Beton has surprised Hans Krankl in particular for years. After all, most of the songs come from his personal vinyl record collection, which he lovingly acquired during his childhood and youth in Vienna's Mariahilf. By now, this event has become an annual fixture in MONTI BETON's repertoire, and Hans Krankl is no longer surprised by the enduring success of this special program. So come along for a cup of tea at the "Café Oriental" and be sure to bring Mimi, because she never goes to bed without a crime story! Everything revolves around the German hits of the 50s, 60s, and 70s. And those were indeed the wonderful years of golden voices - from greats like Peter Alexander, Udo Jürgens, Roy Black, Vico Torriani, Rex Gildo, Conny Froboess, Katja Ebstein, Bill Ramsey, Caterina Valente, Vicky Leandros, and many, many more. Hans, Thomas, and Toni remember their inevitable roots from the times when their parents brought home the first affordable suitcase record players, and hardly anything else but German hits was played. A long way still lay ahead for their personal musical emancipation. Today, the three gentlemen live in peace with their past and embrace the wonderful melodies that surely possess true timeless value. At least, that’s what one might think when hearing the usually very large audience singing along heartily from the very first note.
