In the Realm of Sculptures, free a stone from its unnecessary shell and reveal its true essence! In your sculptor workshop with artists from Zimbabwe in Wernsbach, leave everyday life behind and discover the artist that pulses in your veins! Many participants already have a clear idea of the sculpture they want to create, while others choose the stone that speaks to them and are inspired by the possibilities it holds. Equipped with incredible imagination and always a smile, the artists from Zimbabwe manage to convince everyone that "everything is possible." With great empathy and unobtrusive support, they quickly help you shed your initial hesitation towards the unfamiliar medium and your uncertainty about your own abilities. Working on the stones quickly becomes somewhat addictive, pushing everything else into the background. You will see that once you have participated in this sculptor workshop, you will surely inspire friends and acquaintances with your results and the stories about them.
FURTHER INFORMATION
In 1988, the London Sunday Telegraph stated in response to the question of who would be the greatest sculptor in the world after the death of Henry Moore: there were three candidates, Sylvester Mubayi, Joseph Ndandarika, and Nicholas Mukomberanwa. All three are from Zimbabwe. Since then, sculptures from Zimbabwe have been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée Rodin in Paris, the Museum of Ethnology in France, and other significant museums around the world. Celebrated exhibitions have taken place in Sydney, London, Amsterdam, at the Venice Biennale, and the World Expo in Seville. Please note that a liability waiver must be signed on-site. The raw material can be chosen from various natural stones from Zimbabwe. Typically, Springstone, Green Opal Stone, White Opal Stone, Cobalt Stone, and various Serpentines are available. The raw stone is not included in the price; it must be paid on-site based on the weight of the chosen stone (3.80 euros per kilogram). Additional workshop days can be booked on-site.
