Vormoos and its Last Blacksmith - Lecture by Josef Bachleitner

The last apprentice of the blacksmith in Vormoos, Josef Bachleitner, talks about the Vormoos of yesteryear and the last blacksmith apprentice. There is also an additional date for this lecture on May 12 at the inn z'Vormoos! On September 1, 1946, 14-year-old Peter Hintermaier began his apprenticeship at the "Ferdlschmied" in Vormoos. He would be the last apprentice allowed to learn this craft in the village. Josef Bachleitner has collected his experiences and stories and put them down on paper for the current edition of "Bundwerk." In his lecture, he takes us on a virtual stroll through Vormoos in the late 1940s and 1950s. He shares tales of customs, barroom brawls, the largest church bell for miles around, and the forges that existed in the village at that time. The stories from the life of "apprentice Peter" are particularly impressive, offering a glimpse into a completely different working world than the one we know today.
