The Gardener & The Tree

Few genres have the power to reliably create goosebump moments like sprawling indie folk. The Swiss band The Gardener & The Tree has dedicated itself to the genre since its founding in 2013, particularly delivering highly emotional moments on stage for over ten years. It all started with two friends, Manuel Felder (vocals) and Patrik Muggli (former guitarist), who played each other their amateur recordings in the car and then quickly decided to try making music together. Under the name The Gardener & The Tree, they began to work on their indie folk concept with four other founding members and soon had their first songs ready. It quickly became clear that Felder's all-encompassing, throaty voice had a distinctive quality and was well-received, as their very first project proudly held a spot in the Swiss charts for three weeks.

Just a year after the band's formation, their debut EP "Revolution" was released, featuring songs like "mama’s guitar" and "waterfall," which are still considered important tracks in the discography of the band from Schaffhausen. In the following years, they continued to work diligently: The Gardener & The Tree has released a total of three EPs and two albums over the past twelve years, and a new work, the EP "SOLE," is set to follow in July of this year.

From bittersweet ballads to energetic indie-pop sing-along choruses, the work encompasses all the facets that The Gardener & The Tree has developed in their discography so far. The already released tracks range from the highly emotional "kingdom far" to the celebratory, poppy "(fuck it)" and provide a good preview not only of what to expect from the EP release on July 17 but also of what the accompanying tour will bring. Goosebumps are guaranteed with the varied setlist on the "SOLE" tour, which combines band classics like "Wild Horses" and "Silver Lining" with the new releases. For a solid ten dates in Germany and Austria, the band will be taking their "SOLE" EP on tour in September with a new lineup.
