The stage concerts turn the stage itself into a concert venue. The audience sits together with organist Gunther Rost on the stage and experiences the grand Stefaniensaal organ up close – an extraordinary access to the instrument, playing practice, organ sound, and spatial effect!

Current Season – French Organ Symphony
The current stage concert season is dedicated to highlights of French organ symphony. Works by César Franck, Louis Vierne, and Charles-Marie Widor showcase the orchestral sound language that gave rise to a new dimension of concert organ music in the 19th and early 20th centuries. On May 20, one of their most impressive works, Louis Vierne's 6th Symphony, will be on the program – music of great intensity and sonic brilliance.

Gunther Rost
The internationally active concert organist and long-time professor at the University of Arts Graz is closely connected to the French organ tradition through formative years of study in Paris. As an interpreter, he guides the audience through this sound world and makes its musical connections tangible.

Moderation
Organist and music educator Ute Rost moderates the afternoon, continually opening new perspectives: on the composers and their time, on the stories behind the works, and on what happens when playing the organ – an hour of music that is both concentrated and entertaining.
