The stage concerts turn the stage itself into a concert venue. The audience sits together with organist Gunther Rost on the stage and experiences the grand Stefaniensaal organ up close – an extraordinary access to the instrument, playing practice, organ sound, and spatial effect!

Current Season – French Organ Symphony
The current stage concert season is dedicated to highlights of French organ symphony. Works by César Franck, Louis Vierne, and Charles-Marie Widor showcase the orchestral sound language that gave rise to a new dimension of concert organ music in the 19th and early 20th centuries. To conclude the season, one of their most famous works, Charles-Marie Widor's 5th Symphony, will be on the program on June 24 – music of great richness of sound and virtuosic brilliance.

Gunther Rost
The internationally active concert organist and long-time professor at the University of Arts Graz is closely connected to the French organ tradition through formative years of study in Paris. As an interpreter, he guides listeners through this sound world and makes its musical connections tangible.

Moderation
Organist and music educator Ute Rost serves as the moderator for the afternoon, continually opening new perspectives: on the composers and their time, on the stories behind the works, and on what happens when playing the organ – a concentrated yet entertaining hour of music.
