Joseph Haydn - Piano Trio in A-flat major, Hob XV/14
The "inexhaustible spirit" significantly contributed to this genre with more than 40 piano trios. The A-flat major trio from 1790 was successfully marketed through the music publisher Artaria. Its originality far surpasses that of its predecessors, as evidenced by the melodically rich first movement with its "bold harmonic progressions."

Lera Auerbach - 24 Preludes for Viola and Piano
The preludes by the Russian pianist and composer showcase her stylistic and emotional range, influenced by Shostakovich, Schnittke, and Piazzolla. She describes her poly-stylistics as an attempt to explore our "time full of contradictions with its madness, loneliness, brutality, and its painful longing for lost innocence."

Johannes Brahms - Piano Quartet in C minor, Op. 60
The quartet from 1875 is based on a work that Brahms wrote in 1855, in deep despair and love for Clara Schumann. The first movement, with sighing motifs, and the dark scherzo retain much of the original version. In contrast, the Andante is intimate and relaxed, while the finale ends as a chorale with a tragically resigned tone.
