Fritz & Aaron Karl with the string quartet Sonare

The audience favorites, Father Fritz and Son Aaron Karl, read – musically embraced by the string quartet Sonare – from the letters exchanged between Father Leopold and Son Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

This extensive correspondence provides insights into the cultural environment and the inner life of the Mozart family. Wolfgang usually addresses his father as "My dearest Papa" ("Mon très cher père") and signs off as "most obedient son."

Historically resonant interludes and dialogues have been specially written for this program by the dramaturges Dr. Felicitas Wolf and Dr. Michaela Wolf.

The string quartet Sonare will shape the evening with early works by Leopold Mozart, compositions by his role models Joseph Haydn and C. Ph. E. Bach, selected string quartets by W. A. Mozart, as well as excerpts from his Requiem in the version by Peter Lichtenthal (1828) and other arrangements.
