The whole city is a stage. Gmunden will once again roll out the red carpet for more than 100 musicians and dancers in 2026, promising to be a huge street music festival with free entry.

Friday, June 19, 2026, from 5 PM to midnight – Gmunden city center

More than 30 music groups and numerous solo artists will perform in Gmunden's public squares, turning the entire city into a dance floor. From folk music and classical to rock and jazz, as well as dance groups and DJs playing outdoors, there will be special treats for every taste. This also applies to the culinary offerings in the surrounding bars and inns, which leave no wishes unfulfilled and present and serve their cuisine in outdoor spaces as well.

The Fête de la Musique (French for ‘[the] Festival of Music’) is an event where artists of all musical genres and levels of training perform free of charge. It takes place every year at the beginning of summer. The event started in 1982 with a street festival in Paris and is now considered the largest music festival in the world. The Fête de la Musique is celebrated in over 500 cities worldwide, more than 300 of which are in Europe.
