Children's World in House and Yard

At the Austrian Open-Air Museum Stübing, the annual cycle comes to life from the children's perspective on May 31st. "Highlight of the Annual Cycle: The Children's World in House and Yard" focuses on growing up in rural times, amidst the smoke kitchen, barn, and vegetable garden. Throughout the expansive museum valley, various stations invite participation. Old children's games will be tried out, simple toys made from natural materials will be crafted, and small tasks from everyday work will be learned. In the hobby horse course, skill is key, while strong effort is needed for haymaking. In between, the puppet theater provides cheerful moments. The historical setting, featuring houses from all over Styria, illustrates how closely play and work were once connected. Children naturally moved between the yard, field, and living room. This interplay is vividly showcased by the program without the need for many words. The open-air museum is located north of Graz and is a popular excursion destination in Styria. The event combines history with outdoor activity and fits well into a family outing in the Graz experience region.
